It’s not theory: Real voices from real people

Real adolescents talking about living with real pain.

1step2life’s core mission is to build an app that helps kids living with chronic pain get out of bed and into the world.

There are many things that make this project special to me. One, in particular, is how many of the Oberlin students involved GOT involved because they suffer from pain themselves. When we wanted to make a film where young people in pain spoke for themselves about their lives and their commitment to moving forward, we didn’t have far to look. Three of the interviews are from members of our research team. One is my son.

Again, Cinema Studies major, Ava Dishian, worked with Emily Eisenstein to make this powerful film about teens in pain. And we have hours more film. Expect more to come.
